Can anyone help. I have 2 mindees who arrive at 7am, the thing is what to do with them this early in the morning. Would it be good to let them have free play or do an activity instead. Bearing in mind they are not quite awake. We do go to different groups each day but they dont start until 9.30am

I would do free play and let them wake up properly for a bit. So if they are anything like me they will be more lively about 1pm

I have one that arrives at 7am and I just let her free play until after the school run. It is early and they need to wake up properly. As I do!!

Thanks. I dont know how old yours are but I am finding that these children have to get up so early that by the 9.30 toddler group session they seem to be getting tired again, we usually only stay for half the session as they need a nap. Poor child fell asleep in the glue the other day at toddlers lol.

If they are still really tired couldn't they watch a bit of tv or have a story (if practical) and rest on the sofa?

I only started minding this week and im too scared to put the tv on although the parents did say they like to watch certain programs. I thought tv was a no no.

If the parents are happy for them to watch TV then I can't see the problem with them watching small amounts.

Our TV is on after school for half an hour why they get their energy back to run riot around the house, lol

I have early ones and usually allow free play. 1st arrives 7.15 next 7.30 then 2 or 3 at 8am.

I usually find that by the time they have all arrived andgreeted each other, had a play, some have breakfast as well the school run etc is upon us very quickly.I
I do use the TV sometimes the are some excellent programmes or a suitable DVD.We all had great fun watching The Snowman and Father Christmas together before Christmas even my 14 &16yrs joined us!

I would consider doing the school run and giving them a nap until they are older and can cope with toddlers. Are there any afternoon toddler groups in your area?

I have been looking for afternoon toddlers but cant seem to find any at the moment. I dont do school run as I have no children that age. Just 2 children aged 11 months and the other 2 yrs. I think I will let them play and maybe a sneaky look at the tv if they get bored (shhh dont tell anyone).

Might be worthwhile seeing what their routine is at home, maybe free play for an hour and a little nap for 20 mins half hour before toddlers?
