Next week is my second week so I thought I need to get my finger out and start a topic/theme.

I thought 'All About Me' - came up with 2 great ideas.

1. Each child makes a scrapbook with pictures of things they like. I have 'liberated';) 2 Argos catalogues and have been saving all the leaflets that come through the door from supermarkets so they can cut out favorite toys and food.

2. Using paper plates they make their own face wool for hair etc ....

Now I'm stumped!! I want to stick with this topic because I feel it is a good one with us all being new - but I'm struggling to expand on it.

Hiya - I did a "me, myself and I" project recently - you can get some really good ideas from this book:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/All-About-First-Record-Book/dp/190571016X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1201384051&sr=1-2

Also, there is a book called "Growing Up Global" that I havent found a link for yet!! But I used that for everything I did in my project. One of the best resources I have come accross in a long time. I'll see if I can find anything! I got it on an inclusivity conference I went on, and it was about £15. Carries me through pretty much every project I do!

The full title is "Growing up Global Early Years Educationan Handbook". Cant find it anywhere!! Ive seen it in my local bookshop - if anyone wants it, Id be glad to go and buy it/post it if you send me a cheque or whatever. Or if anyone wants something specific I could photocopy the pages and send? the chapters are:

1. Me and My Family
2. The global Garden
3. Food for thought
4. Making sense
5. Music and Gmaes from around the World
6. Story Tent
7. Get to know Ghana
8. Suprises in South Africa
9. Excuse me, is this India?
10. Check out China
11. Mexico uno, dos tres
12. Travel to Trinidad and Tobego

Not sure if that would be breaking any publishing rules though!??!

Just had an idea!!! if there are a few childminders in your area and you are wanting something off the internet that only comes in bulk packs, why not club together! also check the nurseries and see if they want to do the same?! that way you can get the copy's you need and dont have to purchase all 30 for instance??!!
