View Full Version : Knitted Dolls my mum makes

sarah32
04-12-2008, 07:31 PM
My mum loves knitting and shes been making a mixture of dolls of recently.

I thought id let you all see as I think some would be good for childminders to use in story sacks.

In the picture there is a topsy turvy dooll which one side is little red riding hood and then the other side is granny.

Shes also made mrs claus, princess, ballerina and the 3 little ones in the front are also topsy turvy dolls and all different colours underneath.

If anybody is interested they vary in price, was thinking of basic dolls at £3.50, next size £5.00 and the big topsy turvy doll £7.50.

The amount of work my mum puts into them I thnk thats a fair price and postage would be worked out and advised when weighed.

If anyones interested let me know.

I did think little red riding hood and grandma would be good for story stacks. There is also cinderalla in rags and then in a pretty dress.

Ill see if my mum has a pattern for a snowman anne t and let you know.

Shes in the process of knitting her next batch which will be policeman, nurse, life boat man, sailor, fireman, girlk guide, brownie etc which I thought would appeal to childminders.

You've all made her very happy with the interest, she loves knitting and loves the fact they will be loved and played with.:)

If anybody else interested in a particular one let me know.

Hi guys

Managed to take some picturs of my mums patterns.

this is not all of them but ones I think childminders might be interested in.

Anne T - Spoke to my mum about a snowman and she has one already knitted, just got to put it together, so when shes finished will send you a picture.

Angel and Sue, ive sent you both mails with more pictures for you to look at and pic.

Hebs - theres only one multicultural doll which is the two little baby dolls, one has darker skin tone. But like I said earlier she can change the skin tone of any of them.

Anyone else Ive forgotten please see pictures attached and pm if there are any your interested in.

Hi Sarah hows your Mum doing

Any chance of "little red riding hood/granny"

A little "girl doll" with blond hair that i could also use as goldilocks

Also a ethnic "boy doll"

How much would these cost roughly ?

Angela

sarah32
07-02-2009, 07:46 PM
angela

Do you want to look on page 2 and see of there's any dolls you like on there, for a blond goldilocks she could just change the hair colouring.

Im not sure which one you want for ethic doll, again have a look at the pictures I posted on page 2.

The price is £3.50 for small dolls like police man and fireman etc

£4.50 for slightly larger dolls

£7.50 for topsy turvey doll like little red riding hood/granny

Let me know angela if theres any you fancy, if not i'll have a look at her books tomorrow and see if theres any others

Angela234
07-02-2009, 07:57 PM
Sarah pic number 1787 i think its the girl guide maybe different colour dress and not a hat then she would look like goldilocks

Pic number 1790 ethnic boy simular i don't mind what colour clothes if the 2 children dolls could be simular size if not don't worry i don't know how big they two dolls are

I would like the red riding hood one
Have i made sense?

Angela

sarah32
07-02-2009, 08:03 PM
Angela

1787 - the one in the blue sailor like dress and hat?? if thats the one my mum could just leave off the hat. I think looks like goldilocks

1790 are 2 small dolls. They are smaller than all the rest, its hard to tell from the picture.

My mum is bringing round the books tomorrow. Ill find out what the size of them are and let you know for you to decide if they are too small.

Quite a few people have asked for a lady policeman or man nurse, unfortuntely shes not able to change the sexes of the dolls as she follows the pattern and most come in tradtional clothes which again shes not able to change without a pattern to follow.

Different coloured hair, clothes and skin tones arent a problem.

Sorry about that guys.

What a clever (and very busy lady by the sounds of things!!) lady your mum is Sarah. These are all great. I will definately be interested in putting in an order. Hows your mum doing with the order list? When do you think she will be ready for a few more? :D

Just wondered if you could let me know the heights of the various sizes please

Misst104 - she has got a few orders but people are adding all the time so if there is any in particular you wanted let me know, I can find out the sizes for you.

Cherry Pink - Sorry, cant find a pattern for a dragon, the lady (Jean Greenhowes) that did the patterns no longer does them, which is a shame.

Anyone else pm as sometimes I dont see these posts.

Hi Sarah

I have just registered on here and think these dolls are fantastic. Is it still possible to place an order as I will be interested once I have registered with Ofsted. (I'm sending my forms off tomorrow, very nervous!!)

Also I saw a thread right at the beginning with prices. Are these still current or have they gone up.

I have made these dolls in past and know how long they take, 7.50 for a topsey tervy doll is so cheap, I made a fabric cindella vertion for a friend as knitted dolls take to long to make and charged £30.00, but if your mums happy to make and gets lots of orders, I have althoughs knitting patterns and are lovely.
