Can anyone give me some pointers for the inspection this year?
All change again this year in Scotland so any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Have you been in the hello section to say hi and introduce yourself yet? If you have, please ignore me I haven't been on lately!

Hi by the way!

Hi there! Yes grading is coming!! I have received a letter from the Care Commission telling me to submit my online self-assessment & it took me ages to do! I am, therefore, expecting an unannounced inspection within the next few weeks. I have always had excellant inspection reports but am really nervous about the grading. I have spoken to a new childminder who was one for the first Childminders to have her inspection under the new grading system. Parent participation is "Huge" she said and the C.C. expect to see how you include parents in evaluating and assessing your service. She also said that the C.C. wanted to see how you socialise with the parents and also she suggested parents evenings to discuss the children! Whatever next. Hope this helps.

Why ot see if there are any courses running in your area? ( there are here, but always blooming full GRRR!!!)

You should have been sent a DVD and an online password to your grading website thingummy, soory I don't know what it's actually called!! - it says to not send anything in, until you are asked to.

have to say I really don't understand it too well myself, so am REALLY keen to get on a course as soon as I can!

The course that was running in my neck of the woods was full before I even got the paperwork through.

Typical!

Plus they are running them all in the morings when we are at our busiest.

Evidence of everything you do with mindees, photos etc, and lots of parental involvement in your service. Daily diaries, newsletter etc. That's what they are looking for. :)
