My 2 year old mindee has today decided that he is scared of the 6 month old baby i care for.

To be fair he's not 100% & is therefor very very clingy to me, but its so difficult. Everytime the baby makes a sound, either playful gurgles or a cry then he explodes. He's asking for daddy & mummy & daddys car & mummys car.

I feel for him as he is getting so upset, he has actually spent most of the morning crying & working himself into a state at some points. He isn't wanting to do any of the activities or play with the toys just sit on my lap or pinned to my side.

I really hope its because he's unwell & not how things will start to be from now on.

Older mindee has been with me for about 9 months or so. The baby has been full time for about 6 weeks or so.

TBH its not been a problem before as the baby came for settling in sessions for about 6 weeks if not more before starting, & older mindee has been used to other mindee's being here. its only today he is just very upset by it.

The way the naps work out is baby has a short nap in the morning. I usually sit & do some kind of activity with mindee & my dd (who get on fantastic btw), then they all nap at the same time following lunch, so can't really spend any one on one time with him :(

I do have lots & lots of cuddles with him though.

Oh no - its happened again already today. mindee is not happy as baby is here, & now crying even when she's not making a sound, only when she does it just gets worse :(

How about a bit of role play. Give her a "Baby" to look after so she can learn about what to do with a baby and look after it. Put her baby down for a nap at the same time as the "real" baby and then do something together while you wait for your babies to wake up.
