A childminder I met a few weeks ago passed my number on to a parent today she couldn't accomodate. this parent ( i think, it was a bad line) wants me to have her child some mornings, and then drop at nursery, and then other days collect from nursery and have for a few hours afterwards. As its not a drop off and collect i won't charge for nursery time. but DH thinks I should do a standard charge of £20 per morning, up to say 12 and then the same for afternoons, so i don't end up doing a lot of work for very little.
Does that sound reasonable or should I stick to hourly rates?

(I charge £30 for a full day so it would be half plus a bit)

I do that and it's swings and roundabouts whether you get the work - some parents do prefer an hourly rate but then you can end up doing a lot of running about for very little money.

I think you have to weigh up what else is on offer at what price and then decide if it will work for you. The other option would be to charge your normal hourly rate and then a pick-up or drop-off fee
