Thought some of you might like this

I posted this ages ago but Celine just made me think of it again

Give it out with your welcome pack

"WHEN YOUR CHILD COMES HOME MESSY"

Red paint in the hair? Blue paint on the jeans? Sand in the shoes?

Peanut butter on the favourite shirt? White socks that look brown?

Sleeves a little bit damp?

YOUR CHILD probably...

worked with a friend, solved a problem, created a masterpiece
negotiated a difference, learned a new skill, had a great time,
developed new language skills

YOUR CHILD probably didn't...
feel lonely, become bored, do repetitive tasks that are too babyish
do worksheet tasks that are too easy, do sit down work that is
discouraging

YOU probably...
paid good money for those clothes, will have trouble getting the
red paint out, are concerned that the childminder isn't paying enough
attention to your child

THE CHILDMINDER probably...
was aware of your child's needs and interests, spent time planning
a challenging activity for the children, encouraged the children to
try new things, put smocks on the children, was worried that you
might be concerned

Try to remember your favourite activity when you were four years old.
Was it outdoor play with water, mud, dress up clothes, with friends?

Young children really learn when they are actively involved in play,
not when someone is talking to them.

There is a difference between "messy" and "lack of care."

The childminder made sure your child was fed, warm, took a nap,
washed hands after toileting and before eating, and also planned
messy fun things to do because that's how young children learn!

Send your child in clothes that can get dirty! Keep extra old
clothes at the play site for times when the child gets wet or
really messy.

If you need to take the child out, bring the dress up clothes and allow time to change.

Keep calm.

Remember in a few years, teenagers will use your shampoo, mirrors, and most of your towels to be clean.

But young children need time to be kids.

I LOOOVE that! :clapping:

And you know what? As a parent, I love nothing more than when my DD, who leaves the house as crisp and clean as newly minted notes, comes home stained and rumpled, plaits half undone, dirty socks and paint smears on her expensive uniform shirt. It shows me she has had a wonderful time and has been up to quite a lot.:D

I'm printing that off, Angel and handing it round to parents!

Yes by all means use this

A friend gave me this ages ago and gave me permission to share it here back then so thought I would post it again

I always give it out to parents - and it works - they never moan after reading it

I agree.

My motto is "A messy child is a sign of a child who has had a good day"

Bring on the mess!

Thanks Angel I will put that in something over the next few weeks to hand out to mum - I wouldn't mind but LO's clothes belonged to her older sister who is at University now then passed to female cousins then used by 6yr old sister and now her so they are hardly precious and are all just run of the mill stuff and really rather dated babbley and thread bear - infact the sister O wore the same pair of trousers here last week and they had holes in the knees. - I was speaking to their minder before last at school yesterday and she said she saw the family at the fireworks on Sat Night and said that the whole family managed to find a tiny bit of concrete in the park and were all squashed together so as not to be standing on the grass - I wouldn't mind but she called here on their way to collect the childrens wellies - she also came ranting because she said LO had left her hat here yesterday I cant find it anyway I lent her an old one of Hazels - she said they had others at home but she wants the other one back - she is a real saddo.
