In their big shiny red fire engine! I'd asked for a fire inspection months ago and almost forgot about it.
They stayed 10 mins and fitted two free smoke alarms that last at least 10yrs.
And did i mention they were GORGEOUS:blush:

Our previous house was owned by a Fireman who had fitted a dodgy (would you believe) smoke alarm so my father in law popped to local station and asked about it, they were really puzzled and as i had a 5 weeks old baby at the time they said they would pop round............. well 2 fire engines turned up ( im sure they bought sandwiches for their day out lol) at least 8 fireman 3 of which were in my house trying to work out this smoke alarm, the others just sat in the engines!!! but they were all gorg..... good job my mother in law was there at the time as i was abit tongue tied with them and all a fluster lol. Anyway they fitted me two new smoke detectors and gave me a lecture etc..... turned out they knew the fireman who lived there before me and they wern't impressed he of all people had fitted a dodgy device lol

Still it made my day :)

I know most of the fireman in my town.......

Not as bad as it sounds, honest!

I live in a small town with a retained Fire station, so all the firemen are locals! :D

We have to have our smoke alarms linked so the fireman are no good to me. Must arrange a visit for the kids to sit in the truck soon though as they loved it last time..

This isn't just for childminders etc, anyone can request a visit form the fire department they will fit free smoke alarms for all, lots of parents I know have had them done.

wow lucky you!

I had a wrinkly grumpy so n so with a female and a young lad who looked as though he should still be in school!

The children enjoyed it though, they had a sit in the fire engine and all got to wear a hat too.

i invited their parents to join us but guess what! none of them found the time to join in with the fun but still it was worth doing for the childrens enjoyment and i would gladly do it again.

i plan to have an ambulance visit next though this isnt official lol, a friend of mine is a driver and is looking into the ability to bring the ambulance here for a visit and allowing the children to step inside. it may not be an option but will be great fun for the little ones.

i was hoping to get a certificate or a badge for the kiddies but we didnt gain anything other than knowing the smoke alarms are in the right place and our evacuation procedure was perfect.

just remember to document it, take pics I made a scrapbook up too adding pictures that the children had done, pics of them making a 999 call and dressed up pretending to be firemen.
