If you put Fire Safety Log book into google your local fire authority should have one online that you can download - not all of it is applicable to us but there are some pages you can print of and use

this is S Yorkshire's

A log book should include:

Details of fire evacuation drills - record your learning outcomes and what you will do about them.
Date and sign against your weekly/annual smoke alarm checks.
Date and sign against a visual inspection of your fire blanket
Date and sign against your annual fire extinguisher checks (if you have one)

Dont forget details of your fire risk assessment

PS I have reduced the price of my toolbox - search eBay for "Fire Safety Toolbox" or click here TOOLBOX (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-Fire-Safety-Toolbox-for-Childminders_W0QQitemZ120331132895QQcmdZViewItem?h ash=item120331132895&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1432|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18)

Sorry for the shameless plug - hopefully you will forgive me having given you details of what logbook should contain.

How do you check a fire extinguisher, sorry if this is a silly question. But didnt know if theres obviously certain things to look for? Thanks :)

There is a site on the web called Blithefield safety and they cover all this and lots of other things too. Very helpful for childminders. x
