I bet you get lots of different replies to this question!

For the under fives and in school holidays I charge a daily rate which includes lunch and tea or half-day rate which will include dinner if they come in the morning or tea if they come in the afternoon.

For after-schoolers I charge £1.25 for tea.

It really is up to you what you want to do

I include meals - it's easier for me (I think!) when I'm billing.

If they are here over a meal time they eat with everyone else... and I ask parents to respect that time, so they're not coming to collect while we're all eating...:D

My fees include meals with the exception of babies. I ask that formula & food is provided untill the baby has been weaned.:)

Why not find out what your local minders offer. If they all include meals then i would do a fee to include - likewise if they don't.

I'm gradually changing mine to include meals, that way you know that you are giving them healthy food, I got fed up with the junk that was in their packed lunches,if you charge separately people might decide to send packed lunches.

I charge a flat fee of £35.00 per day. 8 - 6 - works out at 3.50 ph or £10 flat fee for after school. Both fees include a meal. When a child eats with us I deduct 2.50 evening meal. £1.75 Lunch and 80p Breakfast from my Books. This reduces my Tax burden significantly. Parents are very welcome to send their own food in (Packed Lunch etc) none do.

Everyone is different. Look at the others in your area. Then find out what works for you. If I have any changes in my charges I only do it once a year when I review everyones contracts (Got them all reviewed in Aug/Sept).

I charge extra for meals.

I only have 2 mindees at the mo, both come after breakfast and bring a packed lunch. Only M is here for tea and she brings her own as she is still on baby jars anyway.

One enquiry I have had who is coming for a visit next week wants all meals included and has asked me to increase rate to £3.75 per hour to include which I am happy to do.

J who I mind is VERY fussy. He always comes with half a cucumer peeled because he doesnt like the peel, that would take me agaes and be a right pain! Plus cucumber isnt something we eat often so I would have to buy it in just for him. Also he only eats wholemeal bread and we dont like wholemeal so again would have to buy it in. All seems a lot of expense just for one meal a week and would cost far more than I would have charged if included in my hourly rate.

Some parents send packed lunch, one actually changed it as her dd wouldn't eat it and ate my food instead.

Currently I charge
Breakfast £1.25, Lunch £1.40, Dinner £1.80
I'm going up in April to
Breakfast £1.30 Lunch £1.50 Dinner £2.00

and this will still bring in much less than I'm spending on the food.

Snacks & drinks included in fees (except baby milks)
