Equipment expenses

Hi all i am decorating my playroom for my childminding and just wondered if we can put things like carpet,paint, computer desk etc down as expenses aswell as toys?

arrrr good question is sarah around she knows a lot more about expences than me but im thinking the same but with the 10% wear n tear at the end of the year im not sure we can claim on carpets n paint?

Andrea is right ... you get 10% wear and tear to cover most things.

You could probably claim a bit of the paint etc but not everything as you are also improving the house which adds to its value.

You can claim for part of large equipment like computers but it's complicated... it comes under capital expenditure.

You'd be best ring the tax office for advice. :D
