Do you have to tell your house insurance buildings and contents that you are childminding?

Is there anyone else I have to tell?

Hi

Yes you do - could result in non payment of claim if you don't. Also need to tell car insurer. Can't think of anyone else at moment (very early in day) but will get back to you if I do

If you are renting you need to clear it with your landlord first... :D

Funny you should mention that. I only thought about it yesterday and rang mine and he said ok, you won't have accidental cover now. I was a bit miffed at that.

When I started up I rang a few insurance companies and most wouldn't even insure a childminder :( Do they think we break things everyday and the kids run amuck in our homes???

I was with London Edinburgh, they were brill re Childminders, they beleived Childminders are NOT a risk as we take more care than anyone else :) they have been taken over by Norwich Union now and as yet!!!! they have been ok, but having said that I have not had to claim on anything child related as yet.
