apparently when you mix it with water its the only mixture that has a solid and liquid feel to it, (Im hoping its the right stuff) so really just getting children to look at solids and liquid, and do some sinking and floating etc, a little science lesson really, and when i start experimenting, i might find other uses for it.

That's right, but you have to get the water to cornflour mix just right, too much water and it won't work.
Once mixed it is great fun, if you stir gently it is a liquid, but try to stir it fast and it won't let you and breaks into pieces!! :)
Enjoy yourselves!
