View Full Version : Does OFSTED recognise on-line training certificates?

Hi, i'm very tempted to do the on-line courses with the virtual college (http://www.virtual-college.co.uk/?A=469&B=1Target=%22_blank%22) and would like to do the Food safety and Child protection courses.
But, if i show these to OFSTED, would they dismiss them as NOT valid, because they were not done in a classroom?
I've been trying to get info on training courses locally and they are either VERY expensive or oversubscribed.
Also i don't want to waster money on potentially worthless pieces of paper:(
Has anyone been inspected with on-line certificates?
Please put my mind to rest :)

I showed Ofsted inspector my Virtual College Food Hygiene when they came to check out the house and she was impressed and did not say anything negative.

Yeh, I did the food hygeine one and my support wotsit came round and she said very good and took a note of it so it must be ok. It cost me £30 though.

But at least you can put it down to expenses and so reduce your tax bill
