Well the day has almost arrived ... at last. After starting the whole registration process way back in February and signing up my first mindee in June, I finally get to do the job for real.

My full time mindee, M has been for 2 settling in sessions (although mum stopped for 2nd even though she wasn't going too) and starts at 8.30am. G and R arrive at 8am so I'm all excited. I had planned on making a picnic and going down to the stream at the bottom of the hill opposite our house and spending the afternoon playing in the stream and some games but the weather forecast dosen't look good.

Not doing my EYFS this week, just going to spend time getting to know M and the things she likes, plus establishing a routine and will start EYFS next week when DD and older mindees are all settled into school.

As I'm getting paid in advance I'm also looking forward to being paid as the last paycheck I received was in Feb after packing up work.

I'm sure I won't sleep much tonight - still can't believe that I'm going to be getting paid for doing this!! Mind you I had the same thought when I started teaching and in the end I got really disillusioned with that but I'm sure that this won't happen this time.

Its my first day too tommorrow so I am very nervous. Trying to get all my things prepared today. Good idea about leaving EYFS until next week. Will get to know LO a little before settling into a daily routine. Good Luck xx

Good luck Jemima - I think we have enough to do with settling in new mindees and finding our own feet without having to do EYFS as well - even though I did EYFS last year when teaching (the schools and nurseries won't be doing muich until the week after either so I think we can be justified in not doing so).

I am also starting tomorrow, feel so excited and nervous I am wide awake and dont think I'll sleep

Good luck to everyone else starting tomorrow. I was Nanny to 2 of the kiddies and the 3rd is a friend's daughter, she has been here to play lots of times so not worried too much about them, just hope parents dont cause me too much hassle LOL:laughing:
