I advertise my "Full Day" as 8:00 - 5:30, however am very flexible. I explain to all potential parents that a pick up after this time is usually not a problem at all :)

To get the interest of parents commuity to Ediburgh I am open from 7:30 to 7:30 pm. At present my earliest start is 7:30 am and lastest finish time is 6:30 pm.

However some of my friends who are childminders have start times of 7 am.

I hope this helps.

I used to have one start at 6 a.m. and finish at 6.30 p.m. No more - thank goodness. Now it's 7.30 a.m. until 7.00 p.m. Quite long enough. :)

Oh, that's 5 days a week too.

I advertise 8am to 6pm but at moment got a littleone coming at 7.30am.

I try to be as flexible as possible but refuse to do after 6pm or before 7am as I have to think of my own kids as they go to bed at 7pm and are in the bath at 6.30pm so dont want mindees still here

If you add on the half an hour setting up before my first one arrives at 730, and the time to tidy up when the last one goes (530 if i'm lucky) then the hours on research and planning, paperwork etc etc and of course chatting to everyone on here..........about 20 hours a day!:D

Mon 7.45-4.30 A couple of hours to myself yeah!!! at least we get tea at a reasonable time at least once in the week.
Tues & Wed 7.45-6.30ish, Thurs & Fri 8-6.30ish, for the late finish child, mum is a vet so he is collected when she has finished evening surgery. So this can vary, if she has to deal with a late emergency the poor little lad is usually asleep by the time she comes and is then back early next morning.

BUT... thats not the end of our day is it!!!:(

My first one arrives at 7.15am and last one goes home at 6pm and then of course you add on your tidying away, planning, paperwork and training, that makes it about a 9pm finish!

I work 7am - 6pm at the moment.

In september I will have a few hours to myself 2 days a week (12.15 till 3pm on a monday and Tues)

And from October, depending on whether I have any new starters or not, on Mondays and Tuesdays after I have done the school runs, I get the whole day to myself! :clapping:

I leave my house at 7.10am to collect and I my last one leaves at 6.30pm. However, I am flexible and have worked until 7.00pm. I advertise 7.30am start as most nurseries around here don't start until 8.00am so I thought that would give me a head start with parents who need earlier child care.

I say "my normal hours of work are 8-6 Mon-Fri but if you require times outside this please ask." When I minded before I said this too and had a shift worker who occasionally (thankfully) dropped at 6.30 and had him sometimes to 10pm, again this was rarely. but not both in one day IYSWIM.

My longest opening hours have been 7am-8pm but the parent always collected late and normally turned up at 9pm.

Summer hols have been quite relaxed with earliest start being 8am and pick up 5:30.

Turns back to hell next week with 7-7 for 4 days per week and 8-6 on a friday.

Am also having 2 x before/after schoolies next week for two days when i am meant to be having the whole week off:eek:

I'm so shocked that some parents pick up their kids so late! How old are the mindees? Poor kids don't see their parents for over 12hrs a day and the poor parents having to work that hard as well.
I'm planning to work Mon-Fri from 7.30am until 6pm LATEST anyone later than that will be charged extra.
Just want to start off slowly at first and see how it goes.
Just got to convince DH that it's worth doing it as he does not want the childminding to encroach on HIS familly time too much.

Hi, I advertise 7-7 but in reality am doing 7.30 - 6. I must admit I am not keen to go over 6pm now - by the time 6 pm is here I am ready to get on with my evening. After I have finished childminding I still have to prepare dinner, do any homework with kids, bath and story time and thats all by 7.30 for my youngest.

It's very easy to say yes to everything in an attempt to get in business but I think you really need to be realistic as to what you need to accomplish for your own family before agreeing mega lengthly hours. Whilst my children benefit no end from having me working from home - I know that they do miss the alone/ one to one time and by finishing at 6 I get to do a little of this too.
