:) hi ladies i need your great advice again my sister in law is wanting to become a childminder at my house working with me, i have told her it can be quite along process to get registered but she seems keen, she has said in the mean time she could be my assistent
if i am understanding this right does this mean to work along with me but with the children i already have not an increase in numbers, i am registered for 3 under 8 and am full
if she regisered with me would she get the same ratio as me

Depends on the size of your house...

Plus 3 under 8 isn't many - is there a reason why it's not more?

There are absolutely no guarantees you'd get more children - I work with another minder and my ratio didn't change when that registration went through.

I'd talk to Ofsted before making any decisions... and think a lot before working with someone and sharing the money you earn if the ratio doesn't go up... :D

If hubby and I are working together we can't have any more children than the 5 we are registered for individually. It just gives us the option of either of us looking after the mindees if the other is busy. You may want to check that as it may not be financially viable

Nice to see you by the way :)

Ah... then it's unlikely you'll get any more, if they've already decided the house is full!

4  I thought 2 were hard work!

Yes, Amanda is right and I should remember my manners... it is good to see you posting again, hope all is well xx

Not sure about a stress reliever. I reckon it causes me stress every time I sit down and realise I have 200 posts to look through! and if that isn't enough I have been roped into a diet so I am stressed and starving!

:) thankyou all again ladies, sharna is ok she had to stay in as she is just 3 having a struggle to get her to eat as her throat is sore but apparently you get them back on to normal food straight away as it helps heal quicker, but very hard to get a 3 year old to eat xxxxx

don't know how it works with ofsted we are with cssiw
but when my daughter registered they did not increase my numbers but we phoned and they let us have another one but that was 7 years ago
but we are now registered for 5 under 5 and 2 between 5-7 yrs
i think it also depends on the size of your house
it works well for us
the only thing is that when there is only one of us we are not allowed more than 3 under 5

which means that if say rachel goes up the shop she has to take 2 with her
which is a bit of a bind .

Yes it is the same with Ofsted, once you are on your own you have to go back to what you are registered for if working alone, we have the same problem, we are registered for 6 under 5's so we have to split them between us if one goes out, say to take one two nursery.
