He was on my certificate as my assistant and he's so chuffed I've fired him

I only had him on there so I could leave the kids while on the odd school run etc, but rarely used him, and wanted him off the books before Sept 1st comes in as my inspection is due and I didn't want to risk them downgrading me as he doesnt have a paediatric 1st aid certificate. He has a full 1st aid certificate as he's a police officer and although it covered paeds apparently it isn't enough  He doesn't have the time or the inclination to do another course so thats that :(

Have had confirmation from Ofsted that they have taken him off my registration, and he's over the moon :jump for joy:

Back to school runs in the rain with all the kids for me. Oh well, I can class it as their outdoor play I suppose ;)

The phone rang, and it was an enquiry. Hubby said to check my e-mail for his resignation....

I told him I'm in charge & it's not accepted - so don't even bother!!!

Have I missed something? If hubby is on certificate as an assistant, they have to do a 1st aid course?

When they EYFS comes in, if you leave them in sole charge then yes they do topchick.

Do you use him as an assistant and leave him in sole charge of the children? If so then he will need a local council approved paediatric first aid certificate.

No. only had him CRB checked as an assitant for emergencies or if I had a baby sleeping when I needed to go to the school. Is it in the new standards?

Yes it is. Hang on, I'll find the actual details for you

Page 26 of Statutory Framework book states

'At least one person who has a current peadiatric first aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present. There must be at least one person on outings who has a current paediatric first aid certificate. First aid training must be approved by the local authority and consistent with guidance set out in the Practice Guidance for the Early ears foundation Stage'

So even if you leave him alone while you pop to school while kids are sleeping he needs the certificate.
