One of my 2 year old mindees has just bitten my 8 year old nephew on the shoulder drawing blood. Not quite sure what the medical advice is on this can anyone tell me. It wasn't done maliciously, they were playing ruff and tumble, I've wiped it with a sterile antiseptic wipe but I don't know if I need to do anything else

Not sure but maybe an ice pack? I know that when my son got bit at nursery they put their Mr Bump ice pack on it to try and stop it swelling and bruising.

thanks for that , that's what I've done, wasn't sure if he needs to see someone though like maybe a nurse at the surgery or something

He should be fine... if he's family and with permission of course, arnica cream might help :D

Hi,
a nurse once told me that if a child is bitten and it breaks the skin then they should go to hospital !!

Sounds a bit extreme I know and not sure how accurate it is. Could always try NHS Direct.

Though one and only time I tried them they were as much use as a chocolate fireguard !!!

you must put in your accident book and tell the parents of both partys when they collect. I would MR happy/bump the mark.

thanks for all the advice, his mum has been to collect him as she finished work and she was fine about it as he had done it when he was that age, I'll let mindees dad know when he collects her and tell him that my sister was fine about it

Im sure that if they break the skin you do have to go and seek medical attention in case they need a tetanus shot.

Don't think you can use arnica if the shin is broken, a cool pack and a cuddle should suffice. Most children should be up to date with all their jabs anyway and I'm sure your child record form will have details of them on it so I don't see any reason for medical advice.
