I know I am impatient, but I do like people to be on time and here it is 25 mins past 10am and no sign of the parents who made an appointment to visit me at 10am.

DO you think they might still come? Or am I gonna be let down for the fisrt time?

They only want me for an hour a day (still charging for 2 though) so not too fussed.

I have another parent coming at 11:30, so not all bad if they don't bother coming.

Yeah, me too. The others are obviously not coming now are they? Unless they got the date or time wrong...well tough now.

Did they turn up Sandra?

Almost time for your other parents now

Good luck

I had a parent come to see me yesterday who was 40 min late - not a good impression

Yes the second lot came and signed up! There 7 year old is starting in sept before and after school and school hols. She has down syndrome and uses Makaton, I have no experience but the parents were not worried about that. They said they could tell from their child whether she would be happy and that is all they care about.

Plus my council has given us grant forms for £100 to get multicutrial, diversity, etc items! So this would come in handy to get some bits and bobs to help my new child!!

The first lot, the no-shows, well they phoned while I had the 2nd parents visiting - she apologised and said she was at work and didn't have my number with her and that her husband has lost his job, but would still need me soon if he finds another one.

I dont know if its in the training guide but there used to be an introduction to makaton work shop in there. it was over 1 day (a saturday). I did this a couple of years ago and some of it still sticks in my head. I found it really good so might be worth having a look round for one to help you and well worth givign up a saturday for

Great news, good luck with the Makaton. We all learnt BSL a few years back and my son still uses it now.
