Please no judging but I have been a childminder for 6years now and I have recently taken on a child and he has begun exhibiting Autistic traits and is now goin to assessment etc to get a diagnosis. I didn’t no this child had any additional needs of any kind when he joined and now I am finding it so difficult to offer the quality of care and attention I used to with the other children whilst he is there. I feel like telling his mum I just can’t cope but I feel this would be discrimination. Is there anything I can do? If it was just him it would be fine but with 2 other toddlers and before and after school children attending it’s just too much. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Have you looked for advise from your local authority EY/SEND advisors? It may help you and the family accept that you can not provide the care he needs if you have sort this kind of advice and have LA support. LA may/should be able to point towards more specialist care- Local Offer etc?
