Hi can anyone tell me if I can put down a printer cartrdige as an expense? Most of my printing is for the business...posters..policies etc....and if yes can i claim it all or work it out as a percentage?

I believe if it is solely used for business then you can claim the lot but if some is personal use then you would have to work out a percentage.

Umm, not much help really am I but didn't want to read and run.

I would do the lot! Its very rarely anything that gets printed in this house that is not relevant to childminding!

With all these policies and parent packs we would be bankrupt if we couldn't put them on expenses:D

If your questioned on it you can always say you have a seperate set of ink cartridges for home use .Then put it all through

I put through the entire cost of my cartridges too as I hardly ever do any printing for myself.

Strictly speaking you should only put 100% of the cost of purchases that are solely for business use. Some people only put 50% down for ink cartridges and other items that are also used for personal reasons/other family members. Some put 80%, no idea how you pick a percentage or how to justify what percentage you chose if ever asked by the taxman!

But I suspect far more people put 100% because the amount of printing done by the business is so high - the odd homework page or photocopy barely makes a difference does it?
