Employing an assistant

Hi all.
I've been getting loads of enquiries recently, way more than I could provide care for so I'm thinking of taking of an assistant. I was wondering if anyone has an assistant and if they employ them directly and pay a pension or if their assistant is self employed. Is it worth the extra work to become an employer? Can you actually make a profit or will it all end up being paid in wages? Any advice would be appreciated.

You would probably need 2 extra children to pay minimum wage plus pension and tax / national insurance plus sick and holiday pay...

You cannot extend your ratios until the assistant is registered to work with you and has a suitability letter from ofsted :D
