I am applying to be a childminder.

My husband is a paramedic and therefore already has a DBS certificate and has a login for his DBS update service. Does he need to pay for another one just because he lives with me?

Thanks,
Asho

Yes :( childminders and people who live in a childminder's house need a special home-based DBS check.

You can get them here - Ofsted DBS Application - Security Watchdog - Step One (http://ofsteddbsapplication.co.uk/step-one.aspx) :D

My daughter has an enhanced Dbs that we get updated each year. She has a new job in finance and has been told that she must have a basic dbs. Will she need to apply for a basic one as if doing it for the first time, or will the update service issue her a basic certificate given that a more thorough check has already taken place?

To work as a childminder or live in a house where cm takes place you must have a specific home based DBS.

This is different from all other DBS checks (and very unfair if you ask me - but nobody did) ...

I have linked it above :D
