So i am pre reg and have just completed my food saftey course but i have come to the sudden realisation that i dont have any hand washing facilities downstairs other than my kitchen sink. When i have looked into the requirements for childminders in wales it states you should have hand washing facilities separate to the kitchen sink (ideally a wash basin in a downstairs cloakroom) but my only other sink is upstairs. Which to be honest sounds like an utter nightmare having to take the children upstairs every time they need to wash their hands. When i worked in a nursery the children would always need to wash their hands because you would catch them with a finger up their nose or something of that nature. I have looked into a portable wash basin but it is just not in my budget right now.

Has anyone had the same issue? How did you resolve it?

We sometimes use a bowl of soapy water freshly drawn for every child if running water is not available - but you'd have to check that with the Care Inspector when they visit :D
