Hello, I've recently passed my childminding course and I'm starting to sort everything out but I'm facing one issue. At the moment I've been looking after my god daughter 2 days a week for free but now I'm qualified obviously I can't carry on doing so as she's effectively taking up a space. Is there any rules to say you can't look after a child that's not under contract or that isn't paid for? For example would it effect my insurance? any help appreciated thanks

If you choose to look after a child for no reward then that's fine as long as you count them in your ratios, and consider them in your risk assessments, you don't need to do any paperwork for them.
However I'm pretty sure they won't be covered under your childminding insurance but I'm no expert so best to ring them and check.

It is a condition of your insurance that you have a contract ... you might want to consider that one!

Your contract can say 'no fee' if that's your agreement with parents :D
