Updated expected funding rates by LA - https://www.pre-school.org.uk/sites/default/files/updated_la_rates_0.pdf

It is good to see clearly stated that the funding does not include food provision or other consumables such as outings and nappies and parents can be charged for these additional elemets of their child's provision,

It is also good to see that 95% of what the LA receives must be passed on to providers.

Some concerns have been addressed - some haven't - now we have more information we can make up our minds whether we want to deliver the 30 hours or not :D

The only thing with charging for outings etc is that if one parent says no ... then either you pay for that child or everyone misses out!

The other problem is that although a LA has to pass on 95% ... if they get a lesser amount than another LA then providers in that LA get less.

Sadly I live in an area which is one of the areas to get the lowest amount.......it's great that the LAs have to pass on a certain amount but I am concerned how much support we will continue to get from our local authority as currently we are lucky that they still put on a decent amount of subsidised training.

Same here. ... we'll get the lowest amount too.

We are getting any training reduced reduced reduced and then when they do offer it, it's with only a few weeks notice and complain when people can't make it! :0 (

I'm also in an area with the lowest amount - such a shame!

HA:0 ( just got email from LA ... that amount, well 95% of it, is what we will get INCLUSIVE of any supplements... so if you don't have any EYPP children or don't count as an area of deprivation etc then the funding rates will be lower than stated. :0 (
I may not be able to offer funded sessions unless a child does more hours and then when 30hrs comes in, I'm stuck. As apparently we can not put a restriction on how many hours etc we offer :0 (

I am not sure if we are talking at cross purposes here but this information is new - it's the new funding figure not the old one and the Govt has put a lot more money in the funding pot from 1st December - New Funding Rates Announced | From pregnancy to children aged 5 (http://www.foundationyears.org.uk/2015/11/new-funding-rates-announced/)...

We have also been provided with some business sustainability tips :D Business Sustainability | From pregnancy to children aged 5 (http://www.foundationyears.org.uk/business-sustainability/)

We always knew LAs would try to confuse things but if they are offering significantly less than the Govt has said they have to offer we need to let DfE know what's happening... :(

We are waiting for some committee or other to meet to confirm our new funding rates...
The minute we know, the childminders in my LA will be contacting DfE!

Ok ... we are now 'in consultation'

apparently in 2017/18, LAs only have to pass on 93% of funding, and then 95% in 2018/19. However, yes, that includes deprivation payments, and any other additional payments. A childminders basic rate in my area will actually be a smidge under 90% of the funding rate, and we are one of the lowest rates.

I have been told that I can charge for meals, outings and 'consumables' ... but as funded sessions are 'free at point of access', we can not insist parents pay, nor make the take up of a funded place, conditional upon payment for these 'extras'. So being 'able' to charge for them is neither here nor there. AND if a parent wants to access 10 hours funding one day and 5 the next, and that is all their hours. We are not allowed to put any restrictions on those hours. I currently say I only offer funding for 6 hours a day ( school day ) but apparently that is not correct.

:(

Sarah707 ... who do I contact at Dept of Ed ? Thanks
