Gardening advice!

I've been collecting old wellies for a while as I want to plant things in them with the children...is there anything I can plant at this time of the year that will survive Autumn/winter?
I'm not expecting to grow from seed, just want to know what to buy from the garden centre! I'm not expecting anything flowering, but something with interesting leaves maybe that won't die in winter would be great!

Pansies should flower through and you could put some crocus or snowdrop bulbs in first and they should appear late winter and early spring

You could try some overwintering veg, lettuce, chard, onions, cabbage small plants may still be available have fun x
