Is there a way of seeing which childminders were registered and working but no longer are does anyone know?

Don't think so.
If you are trying to find somebody specific then you can only really check by seeing if they are registered on the Ofsted Website. If they have de-registered they simply don't appear anymore.

If you search for childminders on the Ofsted website there are 2 options for results - operating providers and all providers. If you go to the 'all providers' tab it shows you any that have closed as well as the ones still registered. It might not be much use unless you known the URN or postcode of anyone you're looking for, but it might show you what you're looking for.

Spot on from Mouse. If you know a rough postcode you can look this up and then work out who it is from the descriptions such as living with husband with two school age children, or if you know their road name but not postcode, you can look it up on the Royal Mail website.
