How do you approach a parent when their child that you are looking after comes in dirty clothes and smells

I'm quite up front about things like that - I'd sit them down with a cuppa and ask them if they need any support.

We all have different standards - maybe they don't see it as an issue if a child is wearing 'play clothes' - or maybe they are struggling just now or their washer has broken ...

It's not that sort of smell. It's weed. Their house stinks of it as well.

Dirty clothes I can cope with tbh - my kids often go to school with their breakfast down their uniform but I don't know whether to mention it.
