Hi has anything new come about looking after funded grandchildren? I believe Sarah Nevelle was going to bring the subject up and I was wondering if anything has changed. I am looking after my grandson . He is entitled to 2 year funding but cant get it with me. I have him free of charge as due to the funding being offered my daughter cant get any other help towards child care. Its still so unfair.Thank you.

We did speak to Ofsted about it - but they said it has nothing to do with the decision it's something from DfE.
They don't accept it as unfair... :(

Of course it's unfair:-
Parents can't use their funded hours with preferred carer. Which means either pay and lose funded hours or move unsettling the child!!

How related do they need to be. There is a great deal of difference between a child being your own child and a child being your grandchild.

According to the Children's Act, which this is all based on:
“relative”, in relation to a child, means a grandparent, aunt, uncle,
brother or sister, whether of the full blood or half blood or by marriage
or civil partnership.
