On another thread someone kindly pointed me in the direction of a document containing the space requirements per child. I'm now a bit worried. My lounge/diner is 17 feet by 14 feet, not a bad size overall but once the furniture is taken in to consideration (2x 2 seater sofas, 2x bookshelves, table and 6 chairs and tv unit) I have about 6 metre sq space. Apparently the kitchen would not count to space? although it is pretty small anyway. Without an extension am I kidding myself? (I have a 5 1/2 yr old and almost 4 yr old of my own to take into consideration).
Thanks

Please ask if you have any questions :D

Hi Sarah, do I measure the spaces between the furniture rather than the whole room?

It's usable space - space where the children can play - it should be explained in my guidance :D

Although the EYFS states very clearly how the space needs to be considered many of the requirements have changed for some providers.

Please ring your EY team....or whoever is training you on your pre-reg course...and clarify this....as they must go through the EYFS with you!
