When do you call a parent of a child is ill? Got a baby with a cough, crying the whole time but feel bad taking her mum away from work etc, what dyou think the best thing to do is?

In your case I would probably ask if you can give some Calpol / Nurofen as although it wont help the cough the child is most probably feeling pretty grotty as well as poss having a sore throat.
I don't mind keeping a child if they are able to continue with our normal day and sometimes but not often they might need a dose of something to help them. If despite that, they cannot participate or require so much of my time that it impacts on the other children then I would call mum/dad to collect.

If a baby is poorly, and you know the child well (you can pick up what is/is not normal for that particular child) ring mum to collect. I know if I sent my child I would like to be told and have the chance to pick them up for cuddles if they are ill/ off colour!
