Bug hotels

Has anyone made one of these with their mindees? Any inspiration for a dead easy one appreciated! :-)

Really easy...just google for lots of designs.
I have a children's digging area and so DH made one to fit next to it 3 pieces of wood made into a triangle - then 2 shelves inside. On our walks in the nature reserve we collect twigs and leaves etc... And fill it. DH drilled holes in wood and we added these...dead sunflower heads..
We have a burnt on words sign 'mini beast hotel'.

Even easier: choose a wet, cold Autumn day; whack up the dial on the central heating; leave the kitchen window open. You'll soon have your own little ecosystem of visitors staying until the Spring. :thumbsup:

Has anyone seen these new bricks you can buy with pre drilled holes in them?
they can be part of a wall or just put in strategic places in the garden
A bit pricey and not as much fun as building your own with the children

Can't see nurseries using them though for safety and worry about children being stung!
