So, OFSTED are dropping the separate division of early years in September and we will be inspected and judged on the same criteria as schools etc.
I think this is a backwards step which fails to address the very different way that childcare providers of children as young as a few weeks old implement early years education.
I'm nervous that we will be expected to be even more "school like" in our approach.
What does everyone else think?
Also, head of OFSTED says the framework and how they inspect is going to radically change! Anyone any ideas what he's on about??!!

the thoughts of ofsted inspections scare the life out of me usually, but now am even more worried! there are a lot of documents and articles related to this - and I saw a video somewhere of a childminder who was inspected on this framework as a pilot scheme and she was saying how she felt it went etc....

Nick Hudson has announced....and written to ALL in the EY sector....about his decision to step down from his EY post as EY Ofsted Director
He will return to hold just his Directorate for Ofsted North East etc region

If you check the General Chilldminding Chat you will see a post there 28 August...check your inbox and you will also find his letter there ...or via the Ofsted Newsletter...worth subscribing to that if you want to be on the ball with the latest news.
Here is the link for those who missed it

Sean Harford has now taken the EY division under his Ofsted Education mantle

There has been NO confirmation that EY 'has been dropped' ...just amalgamated....some are not happy but have already raised concerns about this.
NWorld only has said that EY has been dropped but it is a bit premature and we need to know more...how can EY be dropped? is this not just sensational way to spread a bit of worry?

Sean Harford has already been contacted by those on twitter as soon as the announcement came out to question this issue and he has asked for the EY sector to engage with him
If you are on twitter follow him @harfordsean to get facts

The video and other references to the CIF have been out for a very long time and posted on this forum for everyone to get familiar with the new inspection framework

EY sector responded to the Ofsted consultation on a common framework and the response was yes...you wanted a CIF...now we have it and is already being implemented.

I wasn't saying you said it Simona just purely asking what it means?

Well... a lot of people believe that Ofsted are keen to swallow EY with the whole education saga.
Some call it 'schoolification'
We know Ofsted are keen on sending children to school at 2 and say that is the best place for them...is it?

EY is a 'phase' on its own...a special preparation for children but now we have the CIF which we wanted as
I assume by 'dropping' it people mean it will lose its special place and I can see why they worry

But we need to wait and hear what is happening and ...above all....raise our concerns on it not just accept it as we seem to have done with so many things

This is my take on it...so don't quote me.
