I was wondering where you all keep your files, for the children...and.....well just about everything! Do they have to be locked away!

The EYFS says this:

3.69. Records must be easily accessible and available (with prior agreement from Ofsted or the childminder agency with which they are registered, these may be kept securely off the premises). Confidential information and records about staff and children must be held securely and only accessible and available to those who have a right or professional need to see them.

It's up to you how you do that. It doesn't say lock it away although that would be safest. It does imply you don't have it on the coffee table for anyone to pick up.

I brought myself a two drawer filing cabernet from Ryman think it was £40ish. I'm keeping them upstairs in on of my spare rooms anything that the parents might need access to is being kept downstairs in another cabernet .
