Participants required… Research study into attitudes and responses to profanity. (Bangor University, Linguistics department.)
I’m Ali Hayes, a mature linguistics undergraduate, looking for participants to complete questionnaires for my dissertation regarding use and responses to language that might be considered profanity or swearing. Please note that due to the nature of this research, language that might be considered offensive is used throughout.
The questionnaire will be emailed to you as a word document, containing lists of words you might find perfectly acceptable or unpleasant. It asks about your experiences of hearing and using them under different circumstances; along with space to add supplementary information and comments. It will take no longer than 30 minutes to complete and all responses will remain secure and completely anonymous.
Participating in this research is entirely voluntary, you can ignore any parts you don’t want to answer and you can withdraw completely from the study at any point.
