How would you charge a parent of 3 children you were minding? Would it be your hourly rate x 3 so if you charge £4 an hour it would £12 an hour for all 3?

That is how I charge but I know some childminders offer a discount. I have never offered a discount and also often find siblings hard work.

I used to knock off 50p per hour, but I no longer offer a discount. They take up a space, they pay the fee! Simples!!

If you do decide to offer a discount, make sure it's for the oldest not the youngest child. It's the older one who will reduce their hours in the future as they go to preschool, full time school etc, while the youngest one stays with you for the longest time. (Plus, they may be able to get financial help with the cost of the Childcare)

Don't forget, that with 3 children, taking up most of your spaces, if they give you notice, you can be left with no work very quickly. Or even worse, if they do a bunk, you are really up the creek without a paddle.
