When does a preschooler become a schools in terms of numbers?

I have a mum who I already care for DD who's 2 but her current provider has let her down for easter and summer holidays. He goes to school in September, will be only count as five as from September?

Yes, when he/she is in full time school then they are classed as an over 5 even if they are still 4. Freeing up an under 5 space :D

JC is right. Beware of schools like my local one that runs half-day settling periods for the first few days of term.

At best, it means picking the children up halfway through the day.

At worst, it may mean you cannot collect reception children until they start doing full days, as they'll count against your preschool ratio until then. I lose potential clients to this ridiculous practice every single year, and they all end up with unregistered 'carers'. But why should school care whether the children are safe once they leave the school gates?
