Hi All - I've had a parent of a little one I look after enquire about the 15 hrs free entitlement when she is pre school age (sept 2015). I have been registered since april so just waiting on my inspection.

Can I offer this ? or do I need to have had an inspection (and received a good rating)

Also - will I still get paid my usual hrly rate with this?

thanks :)

It depends on what conditions your local authority has for childminders offering the funding ring your development officer and ask, the funding is a set fee and you cannot ask a parent to top it up it is usually less than our hourly rate.

You need to speak to your local authority.

They should let you access funding before you've been graded, but I'm not sure that all of them do.

Each LA also sets the rate they pay you. In some areas it's more than childminders charge, but in a lot of areas they pay less than the average hourly rate. Like Qualitycare says, you can't charge the parents a top up fee, although you can charge for meals and charge your usual rate for any hours they use above the 15 funded hours.
