I got my health decleration back from my doctors and I said that I took some medication for anxiety but my doctor has made it out to be worse that I have stated. Would this prevent me from coming a childminder? I dont think its a big deal as its just work related anxiety which is why im leaving to do something entirely different (childminding). Anyone had similar experience?

No not in my experience. When I started childminding 2 years ago I was on anti depressants for anxiety.
They asked at my pre-reg if I was planning on coming off them, which I was and since have.
I think stuff like that shouldn't be any of their business to be honest. Anxiety and depression is extremely common

You may be referred to another doctor - not unusual but can be a bit frustrating. From Ofsted's point of view anxiety/depression can manifest itself in various forms from mild to severe and they need to be sure that you are safe to work with children. I'm not saying you aren't but can you imagine the headlines if Ofsted registered someone without double-checking and then something went wrong? Given that it was work related anxiety, it will probably be ok but ultimately it's up to Ofsted to decide.

As others have said it is down to Ofsted to make the final decision.

Lots of minders have been in your situation and usually signed off when you go to their medical.

I am on medication for anxiety and depression. When I had my pre reg visit it was the first thing the inspector wanted to talk about as she said if she wasn't satisfied with my reply then we wouldn't go any further with my registration.

So I just explained what events had happened which had led to why I was on medication. I stressed that in no way did I feel sucidel, that I do wake up feeling low occasionally but that working with children makes me happy, doesn't cause me anxiety (quite funny considering what kids can be like!) and it's life's experiences of which I had no control over that caused the depression and anxiety.

She liked how honest and upfront I had been with her. Luckily, she was happy to proceed with my registration. I said that I would discuss with my doctor about coming of my medication which I did. This was in June and I started minding end of July. I am so happy and relaxed. Hope this info helps good luck to you.
