Hi as anyone ever had to report a incident to ofsted?

A mindee fell off the chair but as fractued her collar bone

Ok. Had similar, a mindie fractured her arm on a slide. You have to inform ofsted and your insurance company x

Yes I agree you have to inform Ofsted and your insurance company (insurance company may give you a reference number, add this to the accident form) - you have to keep accident records until the child is 21 years old, in case they want to make a claim against you when they are an adult.

Refer to Ofsted document "Serious accidents, injuries and deaths that registered providers must notify to Ofsted and local child protection agencies" page 5 You must notify Ofsted about "serious injuries" - note below says
We define serious injuries as - broken bones or a fracture.

I have already informed ofsted just wondering what normally happens after

Mine did trigger an inspection, but was due. Get yourself prepared just in case x

I have recently had my inspection they haven't said anything in regards to whstt is happening

Other than my inspection, I didn't hear any more. Did you inform your insurance? My parent was brilliant and said accidents happen

Im not sure if to as ofsted said I don't need to. My parents said exactly the same

You do need to as the child can make a claim when they are adult. It needs to be on record. I rang gave some information and then had to email them some stuff about the incident and my risk assessments. I am with MM

You do need to inform insurance and ofsted also check if you need to inform riddle (google it) I was advised to ring the lado too. Have you spoken to anyone at your local authority for support?
Having reported the incident you need to follow up the call in writing.
Write exactly as it happens as much as you remember, keep it factual with timings if you can. He said, I said, he did x , I called x....... I have called insurance company etc etc.
Add any comments parents have made, include copy of accident form and if parent makes any written comment egg on Facebook print it out and add to your write up.
Send your risk assessment before the accident and the revised one in light of the accident.

I had a phone call from the investigation team, they wanted to check what the insurance company advised, how the child was if the child was back in my care.

They rang about a fortnight later asked some more questions and advised they were not going to take any action.

It's horrid but accidents happen, how are you feeling?
