The revised SEN requirements will be in place from September 2014 - all childminders will need to make changes to their SEN policies to comply with the updated wording in the Eyfs 2014 and the Children and Families Bill.

If you haven't been offered training yet, now is a good time to ask your LA how they are going to support you.

Here are some useful links :D

Thanks Sarah. Everyone ends to be aware if this and get their Local Offer's into their LA by their deadline.

If people haven't heard of this, get in touch with your LA. They should know about it and be running training as they have to submit their own local offer

Not necessarily... depends on your LA and how they are doing it.

Here we need to prepare our own Local Offer (using LA template questions) and we publish our own Local Offer document ourselves on our own CM websites. If we do not have a website then we just need to have it 'available' in case we are ever asked.

The LA has profiles on us all on a county-wide early years/childcare website for parents to search for childcare already, so the idea is if our Local Offer is on our own website and we link our own websites to our Profile on the LA website then it is all available for parents.

I don't have a website so my Local Offer is in my portfolio for anyone who asks.

Yes that's pretty much the same. Our LA uses 1Big Database so will add our local offer to the info they already put on there. There's also another local SEN website which will contain this info. LA's still have to do their own local offers to show what they offer parents with children with SEN.

There is a lot of information on the PLA website....
LAs will have to come up with training soon but in the meantime this could be useful if you are updating your SEN (D) Policy
