Question on Pre school switch to school in Scotland

Hi peeps,

A quick question, My son is 4 and due to start school in August of this year. He finishes pre school nursery in June. To work out my 3 pre school ratio, when does he become a school child?? It is when he leaves Nursery or when he starts school??

If it's the same as England, the child needs to have started full time school, 10 sessions a week, morning and afternoon.

As Rick says it is when they actually start full-time school (mornings and afternoons 5 days) here in Wales too. If they have half day settling he cannot be classed as the older age group until he is attending school full-time. As Scotland can have different rules check with SCSWIS

I asked this last year with SCSWIS and was told it wasn't until they started school in August , they never said whither it was after the 2 weeks of half days though so I just assumed it was when school started
