A member on our fb group has just shared this information.

Just had my annual gas service and he checked my carbon monoxide detector. He told me it was out of date and would no longer be working effectively. On the back in the small print it does say quite clearly to be replaced after 5yrs
I had been replacing the battery religiously thinking it was working as it beeped appropriately.I have been including it on my monthly alarm checks too and ticking off.
Of course this shows only that the battery is working not that the sensor itself is working..............new detector now ordered. (the old one was 2yrs out of its guaranteed performance

Get checking your dates everyone

Good heads up! :D

Ours appears to be ok but if there is anything at all wrong with it, we shall find out on the 11th. We have a gas service all booked up so if it is at fault it will get changed that day :)

I raised this as mine had a sticker in it to contact a telephone number before a certain date. I was told wrongly that it only needed a battery and to send it to them and they would change it. I wasnt happy with this but sent it away thinking they were the experts. When my engineer carried out my safety checks he found it faulty so we bought one the same day and now sleep happier. Seems like not even the so called experts know what they are talking about.
