I have an almost 30 month old mindee who loves to walk and has hardly been in a buggy since before he was 2. However, I'm noticing the plopping sound more and more as his feet hit the pavement. I feel the shoes he had on today were a little too small, but only just and this is not a general thing. He has other shoes and wellies but he always walks the same. Does anyone know about what age children start to walk with the heel to toe motion.

I'd suggest mum speaks to the health visitor - there might be an underlying problem that needs investigating x

I had a 3yr old did the same and a remember reading a preschool development article that said they don't need to have mastered the heel to toe walk until 5yrs. Child is 7yrs now and has no walking problems.
