I have my first Ofsted inspection later this month & was wondering if there is a protocol for ex-mindees files (personal info, contracts etc)
is it the same as other businesses where you hold info for 3 months or should I be shredding it now?

You need to keep attendance records til the child turns 21.

So that would be in my register, what about personal info files?

also what if I stop minding? I have to keep all the files until all the children are 21?

Contracts form part of an inland revenue audit so that part is 6 years but I would keep them for the 21 years and 3 months

We have to keep accident forms for 21 years and 3 months (even if we stop childminding) in case a child decides to claim in their own right as an adult. As part of this it is good idea to keep attendance registers and contracts in case it ever happened.

Contracts, invoices and payments, accounts need to be kept for IR as tamzin says.

I just keep everything in box files in the attic in a filing cabinet - just in case
