Those without Facebook

An app called talking Angela which is like talking tom (copies what you say in a cat voice) has been used by paedophiles to get info from kids . It is asking questions about their family where they live and talking sexually .,
Please log in if you can and share .. Happened in Edinburgh but police don't know where it is originating from and they have had to put a school on red alert as the kids told them where they went to school

IT'S A HOAX!

Bogus Warning - 'Talking Angela' Threat to Children (http://www.hoax-slayer.com/talking-angela-warning.shtml)

snopes.com: Talking Angela (http://www.snopes.com/computer/internet/angela.asp)

I always think it's a good idea to research these 'warnings' before reposting them. Snopes and Hoax-Slayer are both very good

I always Google before reposting anything. Was reading about how people make lots of money with likes and shares on FB pages, so am careful what I like and share

Was a friend re posting off a friends wall so wouldn't have thought to snopes it but I usually do! Saddos as you say!

Still need to be vigilant with what kids are doing and may seem harmless so no harm

Would have thought that most people would assume like I did that it is like talking tom in that it only repeats,, This one seems more interactive and responds so prob right to be wary., my girls don't download apps without permission but if they said to me 'it's like talking Tom' I would say fine go ahead

Apologies if I upset anyone

I don't think you'll have upset anyone...except maybe the poor developer who has come up with a fun app for kids then had it targeted as being a haven for paedophiles!

The problem with warnings like this is that people read it, panic, but don't read the other posts saying it's a hoax.

I'm afraid it's a pet peeve of mine, forwarding fake warnings without checking them out first. I block friends on FB who do it repeatedly
