Hi Ladies, first a huge big thumbs up to everyone here who is doing well and trying hard on their diets, there are just too many threads to go and post on each lol!

Well after 20 odd years of 'dieting' and slowly getting bigger and bigger I had enough. I had been thinking about trying this route for a while and I finally bit the bullet!

No - I haven't had a gastric band - (far too chicken & not to mention skint for that!)

I have been for hypnotherapy!

I think it might work for me. I had always felt my ridiculous eating patterns were buried in my past but as it turns out it seems to be not quite what I thought!

I have had 2 sessions so far, the 1st is an introduction and find out about me session, with a short light hypnosis session that trys to install some positive messages into my sub conscious - like chew properly/slowly, small bites, stop when full etc. All very basic but all major faults for me! I took away a disc to listen to every day which reinforces these messages.

The second session was a deeper hypnosis and she spoke to my subconscious and asked some questions. It turns out when I was 12 I felt I had no friends and started to eat more for comfort! There are memories I can think of that make me think this is very true.

And you jnow what - right from the 1st session my eating has been calm and considered. No great big fired up 1st days of diet feelings, but I have considered what I have been eating or choosing to eat on a very normal basis. 3 normal meals and a couple of healthy snacks. Thanks to my many years of attending diet clubs has left me with an extensive knowledge if what I should eat and hopefully now I have the desire to use that knowledge long term!

I did feel I held back a little at the last session as I was a bit scared about it but I have another session in August & I will tell her how i felt and see what comes up.

I will try to get back on & let you know how I am doing - so far in 3 weeks I have lost 5lb without a diet of any kind!

Good on yer girl. I have always thought that if a hypnotist could get people to do all sorts of stupid things on the stage then getting them to give up smoking and unhealthy eating patterns should be a doddle.

Do let us know how it all goes.:)

Its costing me £40 per session - It will be a maximum of 4 sessions - had 2 so far! Marie I have been dieting for the last 20 odd years and for the last 15 or so I have known exactly what I was doing wrong and what I needed to do to be slim but I still ate too much!

From the 1st session I have felt very calm and relaxed about ehat i eat and ablw to make the right choices - I no longer feel the need to eat just because I am sad / happy / bored/ angry / breathing!

I have lost another pound this week and I have simple beem eating 3 meals a day - oridnary every day meals plus io have been having a glass or 2 of wine most evenings!

I think if you are generally a slim person who has put on a little weight due to a baby or lifestyle change then this is not nec' the route for you. If on the other hand you have been over eating for a long time and tried most remidies without success then it is worth a try. I figure if I went to a slimming group gor the next 12 months it would cost around £250 do this is a bargain in comparison (considering all the groups have failed me so far!)

Good luck.

Hi ladies, thanks for the support! I go again on Saturday, I am still finding it quite easy to make the right choices most of the time! have now lost 9lb in total and thats without following a specific diet. I definatley find it easier when I have been listening to the cd every day, it keeps the positive thoughts fresh in my mind! Will let you know what happens Saturday (although kids are away for the night so we are going to Norwich for a nice meal and a night in hotel so dont expect to hear too soon!)

Thanks Dee, the Restaurant at the hotel was amazing - even if they were running an hour late lol! THe hotel itslelf was ok but could have been better!

After my last visit to Julie I have to say I had a bit of a wobble - my old habits seemd to be trying to reasert themselves but I kept listening to my tapes and it was very short lived - I have now lost half a stone and this week I am doing the kellogs cerial thing, now normally if I tried this I would last about an hour before feeling deprived but now I fel fine - totally satisfied and happy to eat as and when it is appropriate. I really do believe that my weight worries are bwhind me now and I can stop being ruled by my eating habits!

I've been seroiusly considering this. £40 a session seems very reasonable to me. I could use help getting to grips with my tendency to self-sabotage.

Thanks for the information and well done, too!
