Hi

My mindees have all been with me around six months now. Do indeed to be writing a summative assessment on them (I'm from nursery background and did this), can any one point me in the right direction regarding ofsted and the eyfs. Does this need to be done?

It is not a requirement but it is good practice to monitor learning and make sure children are making good progress. I do 6 monthly summaries it's great to show parents how well their child is developing :D

Thank you Sarah. I think I will do a short version for parents and see how they take it.

I do 6 monthly summaries too, I have borrowed Sarah's idea of doing them around the childs birthday and 6 months in between - just done one 2 year summary, similar to a 2 year check but in our area the HV normally do them at 2 1/2 years so this way if the mum gets a phone call saying it is being done early I have done lots of the hard work. Also doing them near the child's birthday spreads them out throughout the year rather than setting yourself a challenge of getting them all done at the end of a term.

I do an initial assessment after 6-8 weeks and then 4 monthly after that.

Thank you all.

Do you just say that it's not a formal assessment but to help with your own planning or? How to word it? So they understand?
